Angelina Jolie says coming from a broken home made her the self-sufficient woman she is today. .

The sexy brunette's parents, actress Marcheline Bertrand and 'Midnight Cowboy' actor Jon Voight, split when she was just three and the 29-year-old star had infrequent contact with her famous dad after the divorce.

Jolie - who has two failed marriages to actors Jonny Miller and Billy Bob Thornton - believes it made her realise she could never rely on anyone else and gave her an independent outlook on life.

As a person who has come from a broken home, I can relate to some of the challenges associated with moving on from that. Its amazing how one might have moved on - but everybody who didn't experience it have not and continued to attempt to find ways to corelate the past to the present when there is clearly no relevance. Angelina - you are an inspration to others who are experiencing these issues. You seem to have overcome these challenges and shown this to the world that people can do well despite what others believe. Well done! (if you do actually sight this)
